We recognise the difficulties that freelance contractors have had in the past when trying to arrange reasonable mortgages for themselves. The mortgage lenders would often bear bias against contractors on account of their short-term contracts being perceived as high-risk when assessing serviceability of a loan and because a regular income level was hard to arrive at. Freelancer Financials has over time had many dealings with the various lenders on the market and built up good relationships with many of them and their underwriters. Particular lenders are more willing to deal with contractors and negotiate particular underwriting requirements which will allow contractors access to “Prime Rate” mortgages. They do not demand to see 2-3 years worth of accounts as proof of income but use a multiple of the annualised contract rate alone upon which to base the mortgage offer.
