INVESTMENTS & ISAs

With the challenges of IR35, income sharing clampdowns, and other restrictions placed on freelancers by HMRC, it is vital that you make use of the dwindling number of tax breaks still available and don’t pay extra tax unnecessarily.

Freelancer Financials have partnered with Financial Quest Ltd (an appointed representative of Openwork Ltd) to offer a range of quality Investment products to Freelancers.

Openwork Ltd are one of the UK’s largest exclusive multi-tied financial advice networks providing the best mix of investment products for Freelancers – offering a wide range from their award-winning, market-leading providers.

Everyone is unique, your needs constantly changing as you venture through life, so your priorities change too.
"From prudent financial planning at the start of your career to protecting the family’s inheritance in later life, the common thread is you want to make the most from your money."

Ask yourself…

How can I….

… best grow my money?
… generate a reliable income?
… plan for my loved ones’ inheritance?
… benefit from tax efficient savings?

Our financial advisers will take time to sit down with you and help you understand your financial goals. From there they are able to look at your current position and devise a number of solutions to achieve these goals before agreeing with you the most suitable route solution.

Financial Quest offer face to face advice. It sounds a straightforward statement but through offering the right advice we build and cement working relationships for life. It’s not about pushing the latest products at you; it’s about committing ourselves to finding the right path for you, now and in the future.

When investing, you take calculated risks to increase your chance of getting higher returns on your money, especially over the longer term (usually five years or more). Our commitment and professional experience can help guide you through this process.

Products and Providers

Our products include Equity ISAs, Investment Accounts for capital growth, and income and Investment Bonds to mitigate IHT liability.

Individual Savings Account (ISA)

Introduction

For Cash ISAs, an individual can invest up to £3,600 a year, and can only invest with one provider in any one tax year.

For Equity ISAs, an individual can invest up to £7,200 a year, and can only invest with one provider in any one tax year.

"The primary aim is to increase the value of money invested for growth, income, or both, free of income and capital gains tax."

If an individual wants to invest in both a Cash ISA and Equity ISA in the same tax year, the separate limits for each type of ISA still apply, but you cannot invest more than £7,200 in total. Your Cash ISA and Equity ISA can be with either the same or with different providers.

Transferring an ISA

You can transfer your Cash ISA to another provider, either into another Cash ISA or into an Equity ISA. But you can only transfer your Equity ISA into another Equity ISA provider.

You are able to transfer some or all of the money saved in previous tax years without affecting your annual ISA Investment allowance.

Equity ISA

Financial Quest offers Freelancers the investment potential of the world’s major stock markets with the flexibility to invest lump sums or regular monthly amounts. The investment is managed by some of the UK’s leading investment managers. You can spread your investment across a number of funds from several different leading fund management groups.

It aims to:

  • Increase the value of the money you invest.
  • Allow you to withdraw your money when you want it.
  • Allow you to choose from a wide range of funds to match your investment objectives. and attitude to investment risk.
  • Allow you to take income if you choose.
  • Provide a 10 year death benefit guarantee.

Investment Account:

This plan is a collective investment account that allows Freelancers to hold a large number of mutual funds (Unit Trusts/OEICs) from a number of fund managers within one account.

The Investment Account is a one stop solution that offers over 140 specially selected funds from the top fund managers in each sector and allows you to build a portfolio tailored to your risk profile.

This account provides the benefit of simplified administration, consolidated reporting, and substantial fund discounts. Using a phased investment facility, you don’t have to invest all of your money at once, but instead, you can drip feed your investment over a period of time.

This allows you to take advantage of ever changing market conditions and pound-cost averaging. This is ideal for Freelancers wishing to make use of annual capital gains tax allowances. It is similar to an ISA but without the tax breaks.

Among its attractive features, the Investment account provides a death benefit guarantee, as standard, for the first ten years.

Investment Bond:

This is a single premium unit linked whole of life assurance plan, that aims to grow your money over the medium to long term (five to ten years) by offering access to a wide range of leading investment funds and investment fund managers. It also includes a range of death benefit options to meet your individual needs.

In addition to the primary aim of providing the potential for growth on a lump sum investment, the Bond can also form an important part of an inheritance tax planning strategy. In this respect, we can offer a free range of trusts.
